Picking Your First Sex Toy

Hi There! I always greet my customers with a big smile and a cheery HI (this way I don't need to know if it is morning or afternoon) - this is one of the ways that I try to put everyone at ease when they come in to my Adult Shop.

I can tell you're nervous, we make a bit of small talk and you reveal to me that you are here to purchase your first ever sex toy.

The first thing that I tell you is that I am going to ask you a bunch of questions to determine what is going to be the best for your needs.  Don't get me wrong, I already have a product in mind before we start, but I'm not going to pull it out and show you straight up because what you have in mind might be completely different to what I have in mind.  Or what I have in mind might not be suitable for your needs.  Plus, your nervous, if I pull out a toy and shove it in your face you are going to run away in terror.

I tell you that I am going to ask you a bunch of questions before I start so that you are aware - if I just dive in and start asking questions, you're going to get more nervous and confused.

Guide to Sex Toys

My first question is always "do you want something small for just clitoral stimulation or something a bit bigger that you can insert too?"

Some people know straight away what they want but others don't.  This requires a bit more probing ... "when you have sex or masturbate, is it all about the penetration or are you more about the clit?"  At this point, some girls get embarrassed, please don't - 80% of women can't climax without direct clitoral stimulation.  There is NOTHING wrong with you if it is all about the clitoris.

Once we determine what kind of toy you might be looking for, we move to budget.  Budget will determine if you are looking for what we term as a 'battery operated' (you open the toy and insert new batteries) or a 'recharge' (plug it in and charge it up like your mobile phone) toy.  Recharge toys are always going to be a bit higher in price, but you also get a 12mth warranty with that - you get that extra piece of mind.  Once we determine how much you want to spend - I quickly run through my mind what the options are that not only comes in under budget, but will also leave enough in the budget for batteries (if we're going for battery operated) lubricant and anti-bacterial toy wash.

Now I have an idea what you are looking for, I grab a toy.  If it was the one that I originally had in mind, I already have a demo under the counter that I can put into your hand.  Don't be shy - this is the one that I show everyone.  If you decide this is the one for you, I will get you a brand new one that no one but my staff have touched.  If you don't like this one, we'll go back to asking questions ...

"What do you like about it?"

"What don't you like about it?"

"Is it too big / small?"

From here I can look for another product that you might like.  We will continue in this fashion until we find a product that you love.  Then, and only then, do we move onto Lubricant and Anti-Bacterial Wash.

If we are on a really tight budget, and you have to choose between lube and Anti-Bac, I will always recommend Anti-Bac and find a couple of single use sample sachets of lube if you have purchased a penetration vibe. Choosing your Anti-Bac is easy - there are only a few to choose from.  If you do need lube, that is a whole other conversation we need to get into - but we will find one for you within your budget and suits your needs.

Now, you're all done - see that was painless (and a bit fun) :)
