Female Sex Toys | Kegel Balls
When we think about training or tightening muscles, we think straight to either sweating it out at the gym or lifting weights, which if you’re like me, this definitely conjures up some mixed feelings and mild panic. But do we ever really take the time to think about the muscles… down there?
Today we’re going to be exploring the world of kegel balls, and the benefits of these pelvic floor enhancers. The must have for your newest kind of workout!
What are they?
Kegel balls, otherwise known as, Ben Wa balls, and pelvic floor enhancers are ball shaped weights that can come in a large range of sizes, weights, and material – typically stainless steel and silicone. These can either be individual balls (Ben Wa balls) or are attached by silicone and have a gripping string for easy removal. The balls work by being inserted into the vagina, and in turn the pelvic muscles have to work to hold them. This repetitive motion strengthens these muscles and gives you a pelvic floor of steel!
Why kegel balls?
Well the use of kegel balls and these enhancers can result in the tightening of the vaginal cavity, not only increasing your sexual enjoyment, through increasing the strength of your orgasms, but also your partners. This can also help with increasing sexual confidence and aid in reducing any anxieties about vaginal “tightness”.
The balls themselves can also be used for sexual pleasure, as there are thousands of nerves in the vaginal cavity and the constant shifting of the balls rubbing up against these nerves will be enough for toe-curling pleasure, especially if worn during masturbation.
So, not only are you improving your health - you can have fun while doing it!
What kinds of kegel balls are there?
There are kegel balls for beginners and experienced users alike, and many of the kits will accommodate to increases in ability during training. This usually comes in the form of a set of 2-3 different shaped balls, either increasing in weight or size as the muscles become stronger. More premium forms of kegel balls will also vibrate, connect to a remote control, or connect to phone apps for more intensive and hands on training. Nevertheless, there is something available for everyone’s budget.

How to insert kegel balls
Before getting down to business, it’s essential that you apply the appropriate lubricant to your vaginal opening before you get into position. This will make the process far more comfortable while you guide in the balls. After you’re lubed up, you should:
- Lie down in a comfortable position, most people find this is on your back with your legs spread apart and your knees up.
- Slowly and steadily insert the first ball.
- Kegel balls are usually connected to each other by a small piece of string or plastic, so slip that inside your vagina as well.
- If your kegel balls have one; once the string is tucked in, gently start to insert the second ball into your vagina.
- Push the balls into your vagina as far as you’re comfortable with. If your balls have a removal string or loop, it should hang outside of your vagina, so make sure it’s not accidentally tucked in with the rest of the balls.
- Tighten your pelvic floor muscles to hold your kegel balls inside of you, and continue your day like you usually would. Wear them while cleaning, or driving, or walking the dog… all it takes is five minutes a day!
The balls should feel secure, so if you feel like they’re about to fall out, or the first ball is visible outside of your vaginal opening, don’t stress as the just need to be deeper, so just gently push them deeper into your vagina.
This experience will be different for everyone, but more often then not, the balls will provide a subtle, but tingly sensation. This is usually intensified by movements, like walking, bending down, or reaching up. Any time your pelvic muscles are being activated.
How to remove your kegel balls
You can leave Kegel balls in for hours, depending on the balls used and your individual body chemistry. Of course, if you do have any concerns you should always discuss with your doctor first. If your Kegel balls have a removal string or loop, you should:
- Lay down in a comfortable position.
- Add more lube to your vaginal opening.
- Slowly pull on the removal string until they slide out.
- Stand with your feet slightly wider than hip distance apart.
- Slightly bend your knees until you’re in a comfortable squat.
- Squeeze your vaginal muscles to push them out, much like with another sex toy or even a tampon.
If the balls don’t come out right away, try to remain calm. You may be able to coax them out by adding more lube. You can also cough, move around, or even jump up and down to help your muscles contract and release.
Safety and health
Health and Hygiene is of the utmost importance when using anything near your intimate areas. Often when using a toy alone, lubricant is a necessity. It is also important to reapply lube when it starts to dry out, our skin naturally absorbs the moisture, so one application may not be enough. Hygiene is also essential especially in this area, to avoid any issues, wash your product with antibacterial toy wash before and after use, and store it in a dry clean area. Purchasing a waterproof toy also makes it easier to thoroughly clean your kegel balls, and gives that extra piece of mind.
